Owner, Operator of Big Ed’s Fishing

Nate is the owner/operator of Big Ed’s Fishing Ventures. He started off as a professional river guide in 2002 and has been a commercial guide on the Dillon reservoir since 2006. He also helped operate the acclaimed Good Times Adventures snowmobiling outfit for a decade as a backcountry guide and medic. Nate’s focus as a part-time charter guide is maximizing guest satisfaction. In case you were wondering, Nate also loves long trail runs, s’mores, big whitewater, and seeing the look on a young kid’s face when they catch a monster trout!

Fisherman Joe

Fisherman Joe has proven himself to be a superb guide, and this will mark his fourth season with us at Big Ed’s Fishing Ventures. He is an excellent fish whisperer on the reservoir and an even better one on the river. Fisherman Joe’s name says it all as he’s a true fisherman at heart with an easygoing style and a humorous outlook on life. Fisherman Joe is known for both his quiet patience and his vast knowledge that was accumulated over 20 years as a commercial fishing guide. He knows everything that’s going on in the world of fishing in Summit County, so he’s the one to ask when you have questions on where to drop your next line.

Steve is a seasoned fishing guide, and this year will mark his fifth season with us as a charter and fly fishing guide. Steve is a very knowledgeable guide due to his extensive fishing and river background. He has a great attitude and is known for his guiding style that features a warm and soft approach that is very mellow but highly effective. When Steve isn’t guiding clients on the river or reservoir, he can usually be found around the state fishing on a stretch of river or bashing through whitewater. Our clients love his sense of humor as he adds heavy doses of laughter to every fishing trip.

Brock is originally from Mississippi and joined the team at Big Ed’s last year. He has done a great job in mixing his skill setup as a guide. Brock is currently charter and ice fishing guide for us, and he will be adding fly fishing to his repertoire this year to make him a year-round guide in three specific fishing methods.

If you don’t see Brock out on the water, it means that he’s probably out crushing it on the dirt bike trails found throughout Summit County.

Christian first heard about Big Ed’s while he was on an ice fishing trip a few seasons ago. Fast forward three seasons later, he’s now a proud member of our team who’s been slaying it out on the ice, showing our guests a great time. Christian always finds a way to produce optimal results, and he has a great understanding of getting on top of the fish. Our clients regularly remark on his excellent customer service skills, and he absolutely loves to be out on the ice or open water as much as humanly possible.

Andrew is originally from the upper Midwest and is now our operations manager, has fallen in love with our slice of Colorado. He loves fishing as much as the rest of us do, especially ice fishing. Growing up on a lake in Michigan has allowed him to hone his skills since childhood. Andrew is a hopeful for the United States water polo Olympic team, and we hope to see him in the 2020 Olympic Games. Andrew is extremely popular with our clients due to his excellent work ethic as a fishing guide as well as his welcoming attitude and friendly approach. A popular sentiment expressed about Andrew is that he’s a class act all the way.
